State police said the handgun was found in a backpack belonging to 38-year-old Jason Hines of Ashford. The gun, which had nine rounds of 9mm ammunition in it, was discovered by Transportation Security Administration officers during the security screening process, according to state police.

Jason Hines, 38, was arrested after TSA screening found he had a gun in his carry-on bag at Bradley International Airport Monday, Connecticut State Police said.

The TSA said it detected a flight crew member trying to take a loaded 9mm handgun through security at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
