The Chicago Cubs received a scare during Sunday’s game as catcher Carson Kelly was hit with a pitch on his left wrist. He stayed in the game for a few innings, but was later pulled and underwent x-rays. Fortunately, the Cubs have avoided the worst-case scenario.

LOS ANGELES — Cubs catcher Carson Kelly still has photos of the X-rays on his phone. They show his ulna snapped through, a millimeter shy of being considered displaced and requiring surgery, the result of a spring-training fastball striking the exact wrong spot on his right forearm in 2023.

Carson Kelly homered twice, singled and walked twice for the visiting Chicago Cubs in a 16-0 win against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the middle game of their three-game series on Saturday night.
