When the mountain lion got within about 10 feet, a husky engaged it and the man grabbed a shovel, striking the lion on the head, a report says.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife received a report on September 26 that an unidentified man killed an “aggressive” mountain lion with a shovel in Cañon City, the agency said in a statement. An officer then found the man with the dead lion – a female weighing 95lb – on the hood of his Jeep.

Upon inspection of the lion, officers found that it had an injury to its front right paw and scratches along its back. The man suffered no injuries and said he was never touched by the lion, so the CPW states that this incident does not qualify as a mountain lion attack.
