EC began counting of votes for the Assembly elections in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday at 8 AM. This is the first significant electoral outcome following the recent Lok Sabha elections where BJP returned to power with the support of its allies.

This was also the first assembly election to be held since the federal government revoked the region's autonomy and changed the former state into a federally governed territory of Jammu and Kashmir in 2019.
