Florida voters Tuesday rejected an amendment to the State Constitution that would have allowed adults 21 and older to use and possess marijuana for non-medical purposes, according to NewsNation/Decision Desk HQ.

The recreational marijuana amendment to make weed legal for adults failed after falling short of the 60% threshold required for approval. As of 8:00 a.m. Wednesday with 100% of precincts reporting, the unofficial result was 55.

An anti-marijuana legalization policy group celebrated the defeat of Florida's Amendment 3 which would have legalized recreational marijuana use in the state.
