TELA, Honduras, Nov 15 (Reuters) - Wading through waist-deep water, residents along the northern coast of Honduras trudged through the streets on Friday carrying their belongings and pets, as heavy rains from Tropical Storm Sara caused widespread flooding across the area.

Heavy rainfall from Tropical Storm Sara caused roads to flood and a bridge to partially collapse in northern Honduras.

As of the 4 p.m. advisory, Sara was a weakening tropical depression straddling the area between Mexico and Guatemala, according to the National Hurricane Center. The system is expected to move into the Gulf of Mexico in the next day but will dissipate at that point.

Sara is moving over the Yucatan Peninsula and has weakened to a Tropical Depression Sunday. A powerful winter storm is set to blast portions of the U.S. with heavy snow, cold temperatures, strong winds and rain just as millions of people across the country prepare to travel for Thanksgiving.
