Another round of winter storms is set to move into the area this weekend. The National Weather Service’s forecast calls for partly sunny skies on Friday. Highs will top out in the mid 20s with light breezes calming later tonight as lows dip to around 20.

Overnight, the first round of freezing rain in Northeast Ohio in two years glazed cars, roads, trees, power lines and more with one- to two-tenths of an inch of ice, creating a chaotic commute.

Snow, rain and icy conditions will spread across the Midwest and Northeast thanks to a storm that drenched northern California.

Freezing rain and ice accumulation is expected to continue into the morning hours Thursday, leading to potential issues with the morning commute. The National Weather Service’s forecast for tomorrow calls for highs to eventually climb into the low 40s with precipitation changing back to rain and helping to melt any ice accumulation.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington says a widespread winter storm could drop less than an inch of ice and freezing rain across central Ohio.
