Sara was forecast to drop 10 to 20 inches of rain, with up to 30 inches in isolated areas in northern Honduras. In a 7 a.m. Eastern update, the hurricane center said "heavy rain, life-threatening flash flooding and mudslides" were possible through the weekend in Central America.

What was once Tropical Storm Sara continues to weaken and was downgraded to a tropical depression on Sunday afternoon after the deadly, late-season storm slammed portions of Central America with torrential rain that led to catastrophic flooding and mudslides.

Tropical Storm Sara is dumping heavy rains over portions of Belize and Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, as it continues tracking west, the National Hurricane Center said.
