Samsung maybe working on its first smart glasses that follow the Meta Ray-Ban Stories' footsteps. The software stack, however, will rely on Google's Gemini.

A new report suggests that Samsung's AI-powered XR smart glasses will launch by the third quarter of next year. The smart glasses will feature a 155mAh battery, a 12MP camera, and Qualcomm's AR1 chipset, per the report. Samsung could reveal some details about these XR smart glasses during the Galaxy S25 launch in January 2025.

Samsung is no stranger to wearables: it has been one of the dominant players in smartwatches and it even dabbled in VR before with the Gear VR in 2014 – the last time people were excited about headsets. Since then, the company has gone a little quiet, but it’s already been confirmed that Samsung will be back with a head-mounted wearable in 2025.

It looks like Samsung's much-anticipated smart glasses, developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, won't arrive until late 2025, and they'll be sporting some familiar specs. The latest report comes from the Korean paper Maeil Business Newspaper (via Jukanlosreve) which reported on a paper by a firm called Wellsen XR Research.
