An unabated wave of severe storms is continuing its onslaught on states like Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Missouri and Indiana, unleashing life-threatening flash flooding, tornadoes and widespread damage.

Data obtained by The Associated Press shows that close to half of the local National Weather Service forecast offices have 20% vacancy rates as severe weather chugs across the nation’s heartland.

Local and state authorities as well as Duke Energy are warning Hoosiers of severe weather threats and possible power outages that may occur in Indiana starting Wednesday evening. While Wednesday may bring heavy rain and possible destructive hail and tornadoes, a meteorologist warned the biggest threat will be flooding.
