Things are going to change for the San Francisco 49ers in the not-so-distant future. Brock Purdy is currently playing on the contract of a seventh-round pick, which comes with a salary of only $5.3 million in 2025. He’s due for a major raise, somewhere north of $40 million per year.

Brock Purdy's contract has hung over the 49ers offseason. Owner Jed York blamed the pending Purdy extension as the impetus for so many San Francisco players being let go. Three-time Super Bowl champion Mark Schlereth thinks that's ridiculous. "That's bulls—," Schlereth said on his podcast.

Purdy is unlucky in that he's eligible for a contract extension following the 49ers' injury-plagued season that they finished at 6-11.
