It’s finally election day, and those last minute votes are still trickling in for El Paso County. The County Clerk and Recorder, Steve Schleiker, anticipates we’ll start getting early results at around 8:00 p.

Initial election results report that Democratic candidate Amy Paschal will be succeeding Democrat Marc Snyder in Colorado's state House District 18 and Republican Chris Richardson will replace Rod Bockenfeld in District 56.

The polls closed at 7 p.m. across Colorado. Anyone in line by that time can still vote. County clerk offices will be tallying ballots until late tonight. El Paso County expects the first set of results to be released at about 8 p.m.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office announced today that Chief Medical Examiner and Coroner Dr. Leon Kelly will resign effective Dec. 31, 2024. Kelly has served the county for nearly 17 years, first as deputy chief medical examiner and later as coroner and chief medical examiner.

Election results: 7 p.m. - Early voting; 9 p.m. - Election Day results in 45-min intervals; final results TBD once all precincts are counted.

Who says election season is stressful? In El Paso County, Tuesday's general election was easy for dozens of unopposed candidates in races ranging from state senator to local judgeship to the Faben school board.
