President Donald Trump has made immigration enforcement a top priority for his administration and has supported Abbott’s immigration efforts. Texas repeatedly sued the Biden administration, targeting many of its immigration policies, some of which provided migrants legal pathways to legally enter and stay in the U.S.

The Trump administration’s weekend immigration sweeps that included nearly 1,000 arrests and have chilled many immigrant communities were followed by another blitz: A barrage of video and photos from the federal government showing agents in tactical gear and vests emblazoned with “Police ICE” and “Homeland Security” taking cuffed suspects away.

CNN also reports that federal agencies are posting seemingly made-for-TV photos and videos across social media, depicting federal agents with vests that read “Police ICE” and “Homeland Security” detaining people.
