Apple TV+ has greenlighted 'Cape Fear', a TV series starring and exec produced by Javier Bardem and EP-ed by Martin Scorsese & Steven Spielberg.

Nick Antosca, who created the true crime dramas 'A Friend of the Family' and 'The Act,' is writing and will showrun the series that is based on the iconic 1962 and 1991 movies.

While Javier Bardem was able to flex his considerable comedic chops as Fremen leader Stilgar in Dune: Part Two, his latest role is a return to bad guy basics. Bardem is set to play vile rapist/murderer Max Cady in Cape Fear, the upcoming Apple TV+ series from The Act showrunner Nick Antosca.

As per 'Variety', the series is based on both the John D. MacDonald novel 'The Executioners', which inspired Gregory Peck's 1962 Universal Pictures feature 'Cape Fear', as well as the acclaimed 1991 remake directed by Scorsese and produced by Spielberg, with Robert De Niro and Nick Nolte in the lead roles.
