A storm chaser has shared footage of a vehicle seemingly taking a direct hit as a tornado tore through parts of Alabama on Tuesday. The Alabama storm followed a multi-day severe weather outbreak that caused widespread destruction across several states,

Meteorologists with the NWS Paducah office have also confirmed several tornadoes in its region the afternoon and evening of May 16. Three tornadoes impacted western Kentucky, including an EF-3 tornado in Morganfield with winds of 155 mph, an EF-2 tornado in Allegre and an EF-2 tornado in Casky.

A tornado tore across the horizon as powerful storms struck Alabama. Footage shows the funnel-shaped weather phenomenon striking just east of Athens on May 20, around 6:20 pm. A row of houses was visible in the foreground of the approaching twister.
