A young man, presumed homeless, was found dead in Central Park, with the cause of death under investigation by NYC authorities.

Police officials were investigating on Thursday morning after finding a man dead near Central Park’s SummerStage area on Wednesday evening. According to the NYPD, a passerby spotted the man lying unconscious and unresponsive near 72nd Street and East Drive around 6:45 p.m. and alerted police officers assigned to the park.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, was discovered around 6:45 p.m. near East Drive and East 72nd Street, by the Rumsey Playfield, the host venue of SummerStage.
