The dangerously cold temperatures are expected in the region from Sunday through Wednesday. Wind chills are expected to be 15-25 degrees below zero Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning. By Wednesday afternoon, temperatures will get into the single digits below zero and up, so it will still be extremely cold in Metro Detroit.

The projection also factors in the Pistons game that day at Little Caesars Arena and the Detroit Auto Show at Huntington Place, which means higher foot traffic.

Detroit police said the public can expect an increased presence downtown Saturday for the Lions -Commanders game, the Pistons game and the Detroit Auto Show. "We're excited," Detroit Police Cmdr. Matthew Fulgenzi of the Third Precinct said in a Friday media briefing at the department's headquarters. "We have a lot going on downtown tomorrow."
