The district attorney of Los Angeles County says he does not support resentencing for Erik and Lyle Menendez, who were convicted of killing their parents in 1989.

By Daniel Trotta (Reuters) -Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman on Monday said Lyle and Erik Menendez must fully acknowledge lies they told about the shotgun murder of their parents 35 years ago before he would support their release from prison.

The L.A. County district attorney withdrew support for Lyle and Erik Menendez's resentencing bid. Both remain sentenced to life without parole.

The Menendez brothers won’t be going free anytime soon if LA’s hard-bitten new district attorney gets his way. Prosecutor Nathan Hochman asked a court on Monday to withdraw his predecessor’s motion to resentence the killer kin and make them elligible for parole after they executed their parents with shotguns in 1989.

Reversing his predecessor, District Attorney Nathan Hochman said there were “legitimate reasons” to justify the withdrawal.

At a news conference, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced his office is prepared to go forward with the court's initiated resentencing hearing in the Menendez brothers' case and maintained his position that they "shouldn't get out of jail.
