Washington state leaders met in Olympia on Thursday to discuss their priorities for the upcoming legislative session, including what to do about a large budget hole.

Virginia‘s legislative session will begin on Wednesday but will immediately gavel out for the day until next week because of water problems in Richmond. Richmond was placed under a boil advisory on Monday after a significant winter storm caused a power outage at the city’s water treatment plant.

Lawmakers will return to Richmond on Monday after the start of session was postponed due to no running water in the area.

General Assembly session on pause as a result of Richmond’s water crisis, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle agree that when they return to Richmond on Jan. 13, Virginia’s aging infrastructure will be a topic of discussion.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin provided an update Wednesday on Richmond's water crisis, upcoming winter weather and the response from local and state officials. Since Monday, many residents and businesses have been without water due to a power outage at a water treatment facility.
