Several state highways in Eastern Washington were flooded as an atmospheric river swept across the region Sunday, with the Washington State Department of Transportation shutting down some sections and advising travelers not to risk their safety by driving through them,

Cities like Seattle and Portland, Oregon, are bracing for another round of heavy rain and strong winds as a powerful atmospheric river storm pushes into the Pacific Northwest.

An atmospheric river is beginning to affect western portions of Washington and Oregon and continuing into Tuesday. This will bring the potential for urban and river flooding impacts. Hurricane Hunters are continuing reconnaissance missions into the storm.
