Ferrari, the youngest brother of dismissed OSU wrestler A.J. Ferrari, had not been the regular wrestler at the weight class most of the season, giving way to No. 8 Gabe Arnold. But Iowa coach Nelson Brands showed signs of turning toward Ferrari recently.

In the first Hawkeye win for the night, No. 2 Drake Ayala (133) won by major decision over Rin Sakamoto (OSU), 11-1. Ayala had an early three-point takedown over Sakamoto in his first dual appearance of the season for Oklahoma State.
