Talking to media, the senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha member said that the party had high hopes of securing a massive victory, but it could not.

A blame game began in the Congress on Tuesday after it failed in its bid to come back to power in Haryana after 10 years.

Congress MP Kumari Selja on Tuesday morning said that Congress Party is confident of forming the government in Haryana. Even as early trends showed a big lead for Congress on 65 seats in Haryana, the trend seemed to have reversed with an hour with now BJP leading in 49 seats and Congress ahead on 37 seats in Haryana.

While speaking to ZEE News, Selja also opened up about the rumours of differences with senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

The prominent contenders for the Chief Minister's post are Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja.Congress leader Kumari Selja on Tuesday exuded confidence in the party's victory stating that it will sweep over 60 assembly seats in Haryana and form the government.

Former Haryana CM Hooda expressed confidence that Congress will form the government with a significant majority. As of noon, BJP leads with 49 seats and Congress with 35. Hooda and Selja predict Congress will secure over 60 seats despite early counting fluctuations.

The halfway mark in the Haryana assembly is 46. Most exit polls have predicted that the Congress would win between 44 and 61 seats.

On the eve of Haryana assembly poll results, Bhupinder Singh Hooda emphasized his readiness for leadership, citing improved Congress vote share and criticizing BJP governance. Hooda stated that the party high command’s decision on the chief ministerial candidate will be accepted by all.
