The Start menu has a big change for those using Microsoft’s Phone Link software. The Windows 11 2024 update adds a side panel to the Start menu that provides information on your phone’s battery status and notifications as well as quick access to messages, calls, and photos. The floating panel is a neat addition for Phone Link users.

Today, Microsoft announced the general availability of Windows 11 version 24H2, also known as the Windows 11 2024 Update. This is the release that Copilot+ PCs have been running since the summer, and it's now beginning to roll out to the rest of the Windows 11 user base.

As reported by Neowin, Microsoft has just notified users “about the future state of the new Teams client on older Windows 10 and 11 versions. Soon, the app will start nagging users to update their operating systems to remain supported, and in a few months, Teams will stop working altogether.”

Might be best to give it a miss for now Microsoft has offered a Known Issue Rollback (KIR) for users affected by the many and varied problems with the KB5043145 build of Windows 11.… The September 2024 non-security preview update is threatening to overshadow the release of Windows 11 24H2.

Windows 11 KB5043145 has widespread issues, including WSL 2 errors and blue screens. Microsoft pulled the problematic update after users' complaints. Uninstalling KB5043145 may fix issues but potentially removes new features.
