BASTROP COUNTY, Texas - A wildfire east of Bastrop has prompted evacuations in the area. The Texas A&M Forest Service first reported the Hudson Fire at 50 acres, but it has grown to 400 acres at last report. It is currently 15% contained as of 10 p.m. Nov. 3.

AUSTIN, Texas — Many people were forced to evacuate their homes as crews work to contain a 400-acre wildfire that started in Bastrop County Sunday afternoon. According to the Texas A&M Forest Service, the wildfire – named the Hudson Fire – began just after noon, eight miles east of Bastrop city limits and north of State Highway 71.

The Hudson Fire is still spreading — fueled by high winds — and moving north between Bastrop State Park and Buescher State Park, officials said.

A wildfire that erupted on Sunday in Bastrop County has been mostly contained following heavy overnight rainfall and a sustained emergency response, officials with the Texas A&M Forest Service said Tuesday.

An “extremely active” wildfire in Bastrop County is causing mandatory evacuations Sunday, according to county officials. The Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management said the Hudston Fire is south of Park Road 1C.
