Washington Capitals goaltender Logan Thompson posted his second-straight shutout on Thursday evening against the Ottawa Senators. Thompson stopped all 24 shots he faced, which set up Alexander Ovechkin's overtime game-winner.

Logan Thompson stopped all 19 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season to help the Washington Capitals beat the Anaheim Ducks 3-0.

With both teams held scoreless through 60, the Capitals went to overtime for the fifth time in eight games, where Ovechkin scored to secure a 1-0 victory late in the 3-on-3 frame.

Ethen Frank added his second NHL goal as Washington won consecutive games for the first time since before the Christmas break.

Notches second straight shutout

Logan Thompson made 18 saves for the Washington Capitals in a 3-0 win against the visiting Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night.

Thompson is expected to start in Thursday's tilt against Ottawa, per TSN 1200 Ottawa. Thompson has stopped 99 of 104 shots (.952 save percentage) while winning three of his past four appearances. That brings him up to 19-2-3 with a 2.

Thompson has the fourth-highest save percentage in the NHL among goalies with at least 20 games played, and he's only lost in regulation twice for the Capitals this season.
