The film was initially titled GOAT but was rebranded to Him, emphasizing its shift into darker horror territory. Wayans, who also co-wrote the screenplay, teased the film's unsettling nature during its debut at CinemaCon, likening it to a 1990s sports drama before Withers quickly corrected him, calling it something “that burrows under the skin.”
