The risk for severe weather has been added to the forecast for the northern half of Alabama on Thursday. The areas in yellow will have a Level 2 out of 5 risk on Thursday, which means scattered severe storms will be possible. Severe storms are expected to hit Alabama on Sunday, bringing the possibility of tornadoes, high winds, and hail. The National Weather Service has issued a level two threat for severe weather, indicating a significant risk of dangerous conditions.

Rain showers Thursday and Friday

A Slight Risk is in place for all of central and north Alabama for the threat of gusty winds upwards of 60 mph and quarter-size hail.

Thunderstorms return to north Georgia Thursday evening and overnight in advance of a cold front. With a strengthening upper low working into the region, thunderstorms could become strong to severe with damaging winds and a lower chance of hail.

One cold front overnight has produced a few early morning showers east of St. Louis. However, a second cold front is expected to arrive on Thursday, increasing the likelihood of scattered showers in the morning,
