Henrico County issued a boil water advisory Wednesday afternoon, on the third day of a regional water emergency triggered by a power outage at Richmond’s water treatment plant on Monday, Jan. 6 caused by a winter storm.

A boil water advisory announced on Wednesday, Jan. 9, is still in effect in Henrico County and Goochland County has now followed suit. Officials explained that the advisory was issued because the eastern part of Goochland gets its water from Henrico.

Henrico County officials are hopeful that the county’s boil water advisory will be lifted by Saturday afternoon, assuming that a series of water quality tests come back clean Friday and Saturday. Henrico Public Utilities officials late Thursday learned that their first round of required tests,
