Edmonton defenseman Darnell Nurse was bloodied and had to be helped to the locker room after taking a hit to the head from Toronto forward Ryan Reaves early in the second period Saturday night in the Maple Leafs’ 4-3 overtime victory.

Knoblauch announced after Monday's practice that Nurse will be out "for around five to 10 days" after Toronto Maple Leafs forward Ryan Reaves checked the blueliner in the head. “Obviously there was a big scare there,” Knoblauch said, via TSN's Kenzie Lalonde. “Since then, he’s progressed really well. He’s doing as good as he can.”

Reaves was assessed a match penalty for an illegal check to the head at 2:41 of the second period and was ejected from the game. The Leafs forward took five or six strides before leveling Nurse as he skated around his own net with the puck.
