It was tough to see past the magnitude of the opportunity lost Saturday in Kingston, Rhode Island, with Monmouth squandering a 28-17 second-half advantage, as No. 14 Rhode Island took its first lead of the game with 67 seconds to play.

Monmouth was within single digits of Michigan State in the second half, but was unable hang with the Spartans down the stretch.
