Anthony Volpe homered in a five-run first inning, then came out after he was hit by a pitch on the left elbow as the New York Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox 9-6 on Friday night in the AL rivals’ first meeting this year.

Unfortunately for the Yankees, Volpe exited Friday's contest in the fourth inning after being hit by a pitch in his previous at-bat. The hit-by-pitch came on an 88.8 MPH pitch from Red Sox starter Walker Buehler in the second inning. While Volpe initially stayed in the game, he was lifted two innings later.
