The Pittsburgh Penguins shocked the hockey world by hiring Dan Muse to be their next head coach. Muse served as the New York Rangers assistant coach for the past two seasons, but he remained relatively under the radar as it wasn’t necessarily expected that he would land a head coaching gig.

On April 28, the Penguins announced that the team and Mike Sullivan had agreed to part ways after nine seasons. Sullivan left the team as the winningest coach with 409 regular-season wins, as well as being the bench boss for back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in 2016 and 2017.
