BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — In the hotly contested East Baton Rouge Parish mayoral runoff, Emile “Sid” Edwards, Republican, has won the mayoralty presidency, defeating Sharon Weston-Broome.

Edwards announced the new proposal a day before the Metro Council was set to vote on his previous plan. "Today is a huge win for Baton Rouge," Edwards said at a press conference Tuesday.
