Cracking calculus: Unpacking the difficulty of MATH 100
1 day ago · The gap in performance. According to UBCGrades, the average for all sections of MATH 100 in the Winter 2023 semester was 68.2 per cent. Meanwhile, other first-year science courses such as BIOL 112 and PHYS 131, respectively had overall averages of 78.6 per cent and 78.3 per cent. MATH 100 also follows a bimodal distribution.

We’ve been around a long time. 104 years, in fact. In that century, The Ubyssey has been an institution that has endured a pandemic, a world war, multiple almost world wars, a financial crisis and most recently, another pandemic. We’re a student newspaper, and try to live both of those words to the fullest, as best said by our 2020/21 coordinating editor.
